First Christmas and One Month Old!

Well I hope everyone had a great Christmas! Ours was nice and uneventful. We had a wonderful time hanging out with Josh's family, and look forward to some time with my family in a week or so.

This post is mainly for pictures, as Dave couldn't really enjoy Christmas yet. He slept most of the day. He did get some cute new clothes and a couple of toys that he should be able to play with soon.

He has been holding his head up very well lately and he's starting to notice his hands. Also, he's definitely working up being able to smile voluntarily. I'm really excited about that!

Alright, onto pictures...

As you can see, Dave has recently acquired the ability to focus. And he always wins staring contests, just try him.

Auntie Em with Sophie and Dave. The babies need a little coaching so they look at the camera for pictures...

Officially one month old. My how time flies. Notice his funky hands-he's working on using them for real.

The cousins take a nap.

Dad and Dave. I'm not sure what's up with Dave's fist pumping. He must be excited about something.

And here is a short video clip of Dave and Sophie Christmas morning.

Hopefully I'll be uploading more videos here soon.

Activity Galore

This past week we were very busy with visitors and visits. After mom and andrew left, dad and kyra came in to meet Davey.

Dad hanging out with Dave. Turns out his stomach is the perfect "bump" for Dave to sleep on. Unfortunately for Dave, Josh and I don't have this state-of-the-art grandpa feature.

While they were in, we went to the Bowyer family Christmas at Grandma Bertie's. Dave was incredible there, especially with all the people holding him and such. He didn't make a peep! Kind of crazy for such a little guy.

Here's the new great-grandma and Dave.

Also, Dad helped us cook Christmas dinner for the cottage on Sunday. He brought up a huge ham that he smoked on the grill and we made the rest of the fixins for dinner. I think the guys really enjoyed it, plus they received lots of stocking stuffers to open. All of them will be gone for Christmas, so we had to do this a little early.

Our child has a mullet/rat tail. Here is picture evidence. Maybe I should put up a poll on whether or not we cut his hair. I'm of the opinion that we shouldn't cut it, but Josh is awfully convincing in his concerns over Dave's self-esteem.

The rat tail. It looks like a mullet when it's not pinched together.

And here is Dave getting annoyed at our constant pictures...

...or maybe he's not all that upset afterall. I'm thinking he's just a ham for the camera :)
Well, now we have Christmas to look forward to. We're hanging out with Josh's family since we're off Christmas Eve and then going back over on Christmas. Yay for the guys getting homepasses! Otherwise they would be stuck here at the cottage with us. Not that we're not awesome.
Hope everyone has a great Christmas! Don't worry, I will post lots of pictures...

Being 3 Weeks Old is Exhausting

He's three weeks old today, and growing so fast! I am dying to buy a baby scale so I can see how much he weighs now. Unfortunately, we'll just have to wait until his two month appointment, bummer. Even though he is getting bigger he still sleeps just as much, as will be evident from this post.

This week we put up our Christmas tree, which Dave thoroughly enjoyed.

Clearly having an awesome time.

And since he is so impatient, he decided to eat my hand before I could feed him. Not cool buddy.

That was pretty much his only activities of the week. My mom and stepdad came up to visit so he was very spoiled and received more ridiculously cute stuff.

Josh and I started him in his cloth diapers this week. It is going surprisingly well. A lot of this has to do with the really cool diaper sprayer that attaches to our toilet to wash off the poo. It is the most practical baby related item purchased to date. If you cloth diaper, I highly recommend it.

On to the sleeping...

Napping with Dad on the couch. Right after this he punched Josh in the face. Hilarious.

Napping on Dad. Check out the reindeer on his bum.

And the kicker-I caught him yawning. I need to videotape him when he wakes up. It takes about 10 minutes to get him fully awake and he has the funniest expressions as he wakes up.

Well, I'm posting this during the Colts game, so I better get going and give my full attention to Colts domination (hopefully). Mom leaves tomorrow to be replaced by my dad and stepmom. Busy busy!

Two Weeks

So, Dave is officially two weeks old as of last Thursday. It seems that he's been around much longer than that! In a good way of course.

I love this picture. I think you can see what he'll look like as he gets older. I really need to get a less girl cover for my boppy pillow. It's so easy to pose him in it, but I'm sure he'd appreciate a manlier (that's a word) background.

Dave and I went on our first outing together-we headed down to Indy with Josh's mom to bake cookies with her and his sister. The new cousins were able to hang out, well as much as a ten week old and two week old can. Mostly they slept and ate.
In wonderful news, he slept almost 6 straight hours last night! Success. We'll see if he keeps this up, but we've been bribing him for future gifts if this continues. In fact I'm pretty sure Josh promised him the newest gaming system on his tenth birthday the other day. Surely Dave understands how awesome that would be.
We're gearing up for another string of visits-mom and Andrew are coming in on Wednesday and then my dad and Kyra are coming up on Saturday. Everyone wants to hang out up here now that Dave's here. I see how it is :) We also have a family Christmas party to go to, so I hope Dave's ready to get his travel on.

Dave looked cold yesterday, so clearly I dressed him in a ridiculous hoodie that has a hat with ears. And I'm pretty sure he's busting out a new dance move.

Here are the Christmas cuties. I think Sophie was smooshing Dave. He likes his personal space.

Hope everyone has a great week!

The wonderful world of newborn bodily functions

So I know that I've mentioned on here before the crazy amount of times that Dave poops, pees, pukes, etc. However, I feel the need to note that I had to change his outfit FOUR times yesterday by noon. At some point it seems a little outrageous :) The good news is that he has tons of cute newborn onesies that he's getting ready to outgrow, so it's nice to be able to use them all.

He has also been exposed to the greatness of his swing. Loves it. In fact, I think he cries just to be put into it. He lost his umbilical cord a couple of days ago, which was awesome and sad at the same time. That thing was getting nasty.

In cottage news, we officially have a full cottage-16 boys. Thankfully they finally found Josh a person to help him and he started the first day I was gone. Also, our cottage won this lip sync contest we have to put on for a local group. They sang to a hilarious version of Taylor Swift's song Love Story. And they dressed up as girls. Classy.

Alright, on to what everyone wants to see...

Chillin with dad. Notice their color-coordinated outfits? Thanks to Gamma for the super cute Gap onesie.

Big yawn. And his almost outgrown onesies...check out that belly.

I kind of caught a smile! Even though it was probably gas...

Doesn't he look old in this one? I'm always wondering what is on his mind. He has the funniest outbursts while he's dreaming.

One Week Old

Well, we survived the first week! Dave is such a content little baby. He's already working on sleeping hours at a time during the night, which I take as a very good sign. It has been very nice having Josh to help out during the day so I can get some relaxation time in.

I cannot believe he's already a week old. He has changed so much already, I'm already sad to see him move out of his newborn look. I want to cherish all the time now, but am so looking forward to when he's more interactive. You can see I'm completely torn!

Dave had his first doctor's appointment yesterday-passed with flying colors. He is already up past his birth weight, which is awesome. In fact, he doesn't have to go back for two more months since he'd already hit that milestone. Our little porker :) They did yet another test for jaundice, but it came back fine again. I think he must have a yellow tint to his skin or something.

Okay, enough updates, on to pictures!

My fellas taking a nap on the couch.

One week old, you can tell he was pumped to have this taken.

Dave was getting annoyed with my determination to take a Christmas picture. As you can see, he won the battle...hopefully we'll get some cooperation before too long.

I just love this face, plus he's in his super cute outfit that Gamma (my mom) bought him. Everyone's really excited to buy all the little boy stuff now. In fact, Josh and I went out and bought him some hawaiian shirts we saw a long time ago. Now he's all ready for Florida in March!

Home from the hospital

Well, we made it home from the hospital on Saturday morning. Dave checked out just fine with the pediatrician. He has an appointment on Wednesday with his permanent doc so we're looking forward to seeing how he's doing then.

Everything has been going very well so far. He eats well, sleeps awesome, and hangs out like a champ. Basically, he has mastered being a baby. Now, we aren't quite to sleeping through the night, but I'm certain that's right around the corner :)

I can't believe he's already 4 days old! It has been such a surreal experience going from baby inside to baby outside. He is so much more than I ever thought. Right now he's napping in the same bassinet that I slept in when I was a baby. Crazy to think that someday he (hopefully) will have babies. If that's what he wants of course.

Otherwise, he basically pees through his outfit everytime we change him. He waits it out until we just uncover him and then proceeds to pee all over himself. Every single time. Cool huh? It's cute for now.

Okay, now it's picture time. In no particular order...

Grandma Lisa and Dave before the Colts game. Unfortunately, this was the 2nd Colts outfit worn. He peed through the first one. Oops.

All decked out for his first Colts game.

Great Grandma and Great Grandpa came to visit in the hospital-they were very glad Dave arrived before they headed to Florida
for the winter!

Future blackmail picture. After his first bath. And we have video footage as well. It was a hilarious scene to behold I"m sure.

Chillin before bedtime, being held by Grandma Lisa.

It's a Boy!!!

Welcome to the world David Frederick! His delivery was ridiculously fast-in fact the anesthesiologist (who did not administer an epidermal...not cool) almost delivered him! We arrived at the hospital at 5:45 am and he was born at 8:02 am. As I'm sure will become typical, he came on the only day I wished him not to come--Thanksgiving.
I forgave him very quickly, not one to hold a grudge.

Dave with his stats. Yes, you read that correctly-his head is 14 inches.

Seriously, I know I'm biased, but those eyes are killer.

First family picture :)

Jumpman hat from Dad. It's almost too small and it's supposed to fit up to 6 months. Yikes.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving-we definitely did! We are so thankful to all the family for their help so far, and future help! This little guy is going to be so spoiled...

Due Date!

Well, we made it to my due date! Not that it really means anything, but still exciting. Mom wanted us to take a picture with me really pregnant, so we had Josh's sister Em take one of us by a pretty tree at his parent's house.

And Josh looks super skinny. Not fair. hehe. Oh, I am supposed to post about our "baby" arriving--we picked up Josh's PS3 on Monday from Walmart. He is ecstatic. I have to admit, it is pretty cool, but I'm growing tired of watching him kill aliens already. Just another day at the office, killing aliens and saving the world I guess. Anyway, baby #1 is here, just waiting it out for the real deal. However, this one does sleep through the night and can be muted...

In other news, I hope to make it past Thanksgiving before going into the hospital-we'll see if baby cooperates or not. Only one day to go, and as long as I get to eat I guess I can go in on Thanksgiving night or something. But I haven't been feeling anything crazy still, just the Braxton Hicks which make me feel like I have abs of steel. Kinda awesome. Doc doesn't think I'll make it to my next appointment which is Tuesday-anybody taking bets?

Speaking of which, everyone thinks baby is a boy! What's up with that? I am pumped either way, but isn't it weird that we have so many boy votes? Now baby is going to prove everyone wrong and be a girl! Should be less than a week before we find out :)

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! And I'll leave you with our "crazy pose" from our photo shoot on Monday.

This is really going to happen.

Given that I've had almost 10 months to wrap my mind around the idea that I will be a mom, you'd think I'd have this under control. It's not like I don't understand what's going to happen, but it is a hard concept for me to grasp when I have nothing to show for it so far. Of course I feel baby move all the time and it constantly jabs me in the ribs, but it just isn't the same as actually having it as an outside baby.

That being said, I am officially one week from my due date. Now, I am in complete denial about going into labor. I will truly be startled when it happens because I've been tricking my mind into staying pregnant through Thanksgiving. Not quite so sure that's going to happen though. Doc said yesterday I could go at anytime-yikes. I have been flip-flopping from being super excited to ridiculously freaked out since she told me that. I'm still holding out hope that I make it through the holiday, but we'll see about that one I guess.

Otherwise, I think we're finally ready-we put the stroller together and got the carseat out. It's still not installed in the car, but that's not too big a deal-Josh can do that at the hospital if necessary I guess.

I also finished the baby blanket I was making for our night guard and his wife-she's due two days after me. Here's the finished product

They're having a boy and doing his room in a jungle theme-hence the camo type yarn. I was pretty pumped with how it turned out, and can't believe I got it done in time! It was like a sweat shop up in here the last couple of weeks :)

Well, I will either post again next week with an update, or with pictures of baby!

Great weekend off!

This past weekend was likely our last weekend off before baby arrives. We definitely made it count! Started off Friday by going down to Indy to meet some friends for dinner. While we were down we decided to do a little shopping (since we have zero stores up here). Well, we hit the jackpot for baby clothes-we found both a girl and boy version of "jumpman" outfits. Josh was beside himself.

Here they are in all their glory.
Then we met up with our friends-turns out they threw us a get-together including presents for baby! It was awesome to catch up with everyone that we hadn't seen in a while, and score some great and thoughtful gifts. Thank you to everyone involved :)
Saturday my mom came up to visit and we went shopping in ft. wayne. It was great to spend some quality time with her and she was able to check out where we live before she comes up when baby arrives. She also set us up with a webcam and Skype so we can chat with family in Evansville and show off the little one.
I'll leave off with some pictures of the weekend...

Mom and I outside of our apartment. Sunday was so pretty!

Updated nursery pics. It's not anything fancy, but I don't think baby will mind too much.

This stomach is out of control! Mom lovingly commented that it looked like I was trying to steal things from a store while we were shopping. Sad but true.

My dad, the technology genius

So I was chatting with pops the other day and mentioned to him that he never checks out my blog. I convinced him to join the rest of the modern world and enter the world of blogging to see what we were up to-mostly because I will be putting pictures of his grandchild on here. Anyway, he wanted me to post a picture of an outfit that my stepmom Kyra got for baby while she was in St. Louis.

Really every baby needs a tie-dyed shirt :) I love it because it's gender neutral but not all yellow or green. And of course, babies love Joe's Crab Shack.

In other news, we are on the home stretch of working four days in a row. I can't wait to have a day off! The guys had fall break and we were super nice to trade with one of our subs so he could hang out with his wife over her fall break. Anyway, now I'm exhausted!

I'm down to less than a month of being pregnant and am very ready to have an outside baby. Although I think baby will be making its appearance a little late. Just a hunch. Oh, and I did have a dream that it was a girl a couple nights ago. That's the second gender related dream. The first one it was a boy. So much for a mother's intuition.

Why are little clothes so cute?

Seriously, little clothes are adorable. So, ever since we found at that we were expecting, I have been on the hunt for all the sports related apparel I could get my hands on. Specifically, IU, Colts, and Cubs. The search is now complete! Thanks to watchful eyes, we were able to locate everything I was looking for.

I have had so much fun searching for all of these, especially since I can't buy all the cute gender specific clothes yet. And yes, we will be dressing a girl in all of these! I'll have to find the pictures of me in my IU stuff growing up. Not to toot my own horn, but I was pretty adorable.
And finally, in pregnancy news, the baby has officially lodged itself inside of my ribcage. Cool huh? I sound like I've just walked up three flights of stairs at all times. And, as I type this, baby is practicing its karate moves on the walls of my stomach. I am so ready for this baby to drop! The instructor of our baby classes said it usually happens around week 37, so I'm getting there.
