16 weeks---Florida Vacay!

This past week we went on our trip to Florida to visit Josh's grandparents. The weather wasn't super cooperative, but at least we got some sun and got to spend tons of time with our little guy and family.

Dave was an excellent flyer. No crying, just a little fussy the day after both flights.

Dave got to hang out with actual Irish people on St. Patrick's Day (this is him with one of their friends in the park). You can tell he totally loves that hat.

He got to experience grass for the first time.

Josh and I went to the beach. It was super cold! Who wants to wear a hoodie and jeans in Florida??

Dave was not a big fan of the beach. It was really windy this day. Go ahead and enlarge this by clicking on it and check out his facial expression.

Dave was a big hit at their church's hawaiian shirt anniversay celebration.

And finally, Dave had lots of dancing lessons from great-grandpa.

All in all, great trip! I've also posted more videos at youtube (surprise right?)

Here are some links

He really loves to make spit bubbles now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAvPJeYewfQ

And Dave officially rolls over now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugTZwq4fH3s

Hope you enjoy!

15 weeks

This week we've been cat-sitting for Josh's parents (they are currently basking in the wonderful Florida sun...5 days until we get there!). So we've been going over to visit with kitty and hanging out at their house-it tends to be noisy here since we live in an apartment attached to the cottage.

Anyway, here's a picture of kitty and Dave. She's a good watch-cat.

Another picture of him sleeping. Dad didn't get him in a shirt before he fell asleep again the other morning.

You can't tell, but he's wearing these awesome IU sweats that my mom and grandpa found at a thrift store. Adorable.

I hope everyone has been enjoying our gorgeous weather! We have been taking Dave on lots of walks-before now he always has a blanket over his carseat when we're walking around campus. It's funny to watch his eyes move around and stare at trees and buildings. Just for these occasions, I bought Dave a little cubbies hat.

I think he's going to be a hat man.
  • And he's still working on rolling over. He's soooo close. Here's a video.
  • Here he is talking to Dad. Notice how he easily he is distracted by his hands.

Updates regarding Dave:
  • He has been sleeping through the night now for about a month and a half. I was afraid I would jinx it if I spoke too soon. Hopefully he doesn't prove me wrong tonight! Generally, he goes from about 10:30 or 11 until 7. Awesome work little guy.
  • When he is on his back he tries to roll over (but only gets halfway). On his stomach, he tries to crawl (but doesn't get anywhere). This is a very frustrating time in his life. Maybe this week he'll conquer rolling over-he's getting really close.
  • He talks non-stop if he's in a familiar place. These places now include our apartment, the office in the cottage, and the cafeteria. The guys think it is hilarious and it has been a huge help in lightening the mood in the cottage at times.
You can see the evidence of his talking in the following videos:

This one is great because he has a momentary cry, which reverts back to cooing.

And I'm pretty sure in one of them you can see me flicking something off of his playmat. It was a spider. Gross.

Dave loves the Cubs. And D. Lee.
This is our last weekend working before Florida. It is a much needed vacation-the cottage is almost full again after we got two new guys on Friday. Crazy. My mom (gamma) is coming up next weekend to chill with Dave while we go get everything ready for our trip.
Have a great week!

Three Months Old! (13 weeks)

Our little man is growing up!

We took him to get 3 month pictures last Wednesday at Sears (we received a Sears card for Christmas). Now, I'm sure our experience was not unique. We have an incredibly photogenic baby. In fact, we're pretty sure a model agency will be knocking on our door any day now to get Dave in ads. So, we walked into Sears fairly confident that these pictures would turn out awesome....Dave had other ideas.
We got one smirk. No smiles. The lady was ridiculously awesome and let me feed Dave in the room, change his diaper, etc. Anything to get him happy-but he cried almost the entire time. It was hilarious-I think he was just freaked out by the room/camera contraption.

In other news, we have found the cure for Dave's lizard skin. A combination of baby phisoderm wash and Aveeno advanced baby lotion.

Dave loves tummy-time and is super close to rolling over. Right now he can do it but he needs a little push.

  • And we took a lot of videos this week

Dave talks like a wookie (from Star Wars) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eSXTDyMdVE

We got him a new play gym, and he loves grabbing at the rings and shaking it

And finally, Dave likes to talk to his lion http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RnZ1tU9qwA
