Summer Time Fun

We have really been enjoying this fine summer heat the past couple of weeks.  I refuse to complain (too much) about how hot it's been...still remembering those long winter days all cooped up!  Thankfully, Ike and Dave don't seem to mind the heat very much and would be outside all day long.

A couple of nights we have decided to eat on the back deck, which is especially great when it comes to cleaning up Ike's mess.

Still not super accurate with eating.

Enjoying some after dinner ice cream.

He actually smiled!

Last Thursday, we headed down to the weekly outdoor concert at the Honeywell Center.  An oldies band was playing and Dave was grooving to the music.

Ike with grandma and grandpa.

The boys definitely enjoy the water activities the most this time of year.  The last couple of afternoons we have been going over to hang out with the neighbors and play with a combination of the baby pool and hose.  It's a winning combination.

I think Dave was practicing a karate move.

Love this move.

Ike had to get in on the fun.

He had a blast with the sprayer.

On another note, Dave has been climbing into Ike's crib in the morning for a little brother bonding time.  It's super cute, and mostly in good fun (sometimes Ike loses his footing because Dave is bouncing too much!).  Here is a video of Ike waking up in the morning.

So happy it's morning!

I guess this is their crazy face picture.

Entertaining Ike and Dave

For the most part, the boys are pretty easy to keep entertained.  Ike definitely more so than Dave!  So, here's a little of what we do on a day-to-day basis to keep everyone sane.

They really enjoy playing with any kind of weaponry.  Not the best pastime, but we do teach them not to attack each other.  Parents of the year...

Ike with his favorite toy: the hatchet.

He will seriously seek that thing out if it's not in plain sight.  He has also recently found the crowbar that goes with the fireman set too, he was super excited!

Dave has really gotten into Beyblades lately.  For those who don't know, they're like battling tops that you rip into an arena to see which stays spinning the longest.  He inherited a bunch of them from a friend, and spends hours playing with them.

This usually ends with Ike chasing the Beyblades all over-here's a video.

They both also enjoy watching the mowers go by.  This happens once a week, and they get so excited.

Both standing still for once!

We spend tons of time outdoors, especially at our neighborhood park.  Ike loves to swing, and Dave loves to go find adventures.

His newest trick-climbing the big rocks.

When Dave is needing a distraction (like when he is driving Ike crazy), we just redirect him to playing super heroes.  He really loves being Superman, and then changing into Rambo half way through.

My heroes!

Ike loving his cape.

And finally, everybody loves a good round of music.  Josh enjoys playing guitar and Dave likes to pretend along with his own.  Video of Dave playing a song from church.

Concert during Dave's bath.

So there you have it-a few ways to entertain a toddler and baby.  Probably a little unconventional, but it works for us!

Visiting Logansport

Josh had a day off on Friday, so we headed over to Logansport to hang out.  First stop was to see grandma Mary and grandpa Dave, fresh from Florida.  We hadn't seen them since our trip back in February, so it was great to see them again and of course Ike had all kinds of new skills to show them.

Pulling himself up.

See, I can do it!

Having a great time with grandma.

Dave always finds the weirdest things to play with...this time he picked two flyswatters and attacked all of their landscaping.

This was some kind of move.

After lunch with them, we got some Sycamore's custard (local ice cream shop) and went to see grandma Bertie.  Dave loves to see what kind of farming equipment is at her farm, and of course climb around in it.

Chilling in the dump truck.

You can barely see him all the way up there!

Ike and Dave have started to sort of wrestle recently, which is mostly just Ike climbing all over Dave.  It's really funny to watch-I will work on getting a video!

Ike pinned him!

That about wraps up our visit.  Ike did get another tooth in last week, and is possibly working on a couple more (he's running a bit of a fever today).  Not much else going on around here, just enjoying the warm weather!

Ike Man Turns 8 Months

This has been a big month for Ike...he learned to crawl, pull himself up, eat by himself, clap, and got his first tooth.  Life is good!  Since I had a bunch of pictures of Ike doing his favorite things (unlike Dave who shies away from my camera nowadays!), I will make this a picture post...

You can barely see the tooth...bottom right in the picture.

He loves trying to climb the stairs.  Thankfully he's not very successful yet!

For food, he'll pretty much eat anything.  He does not like waffles or anything super sweet.  But does love eggs and peas...weird kid.

Enjoying his favorite dinner.

Eating blueberries for the first time.

Couple of pictures from his 8 month shoot-

Sitting so nicely in the rocking chair.

Is this the sign you want me to leave alone?

He's getting quite fast.

He loves to stand and watch the neighborhood at our front door.

And he squeals whenever it's time to go outside (which is pretty much all day).

As for other things that Ike is fond of, he loves to feel everything and squishes his hand on every surface to see what it's like.  He also loves to touch everyone's face and stick his grimy hands in your mouth.  Kinda wish he'd grow out of that one!  He is learning to cruise around on the furniture and likes the weirdest things for toys.  Some examples:  snappis (used for our cloth diapers to keep them closed), spoons, any chord, and his all time favorite is this hatchet that Dave got with a fireman set.

Ike still sleeps pretty great and is overall a fun, happy baby.  Even while cutting teeth!  He is developing such a fun personality and I have a feeling will be much like his older brother.

Here's a couple of videos of Ike-Dave making him laugh.  And one of him learning how to wave.
