Ike Turns 23 Months and Dave's 1st Day of Pre-K

Since I was slacking on writing both of these posts, I figured I may as well stick them together.  I am in total denial that Ike is going to be 2 in a month and Dave is one short year away from kindergarten.  I can't take all this growing up!

Ike's 23 month picture...only about a week late.

Dave before his first morning.  He looks so old!

Ike wanted to get his picture taken with Dave-pretty sure he thought he was going to school too!

A little about each boy.  Ike continues to dislike hearing "no" and now tattles on whoever did so.  Imagine him crying to the point of blubbering and then telling me, "Daddy said no!!!".  Not a fan.  He has started saying ummm whenever he can't think of an answer.  "Ike, what color is the tractor?"  "ummmmm, blue?"  Still gotta work on those colors  :)  He insists that I sing Muscle in the Arm every night before bed but only really wants to hear the line about the horse.  His favorite books right now are any Curious George and he still loves lawnmowers above all other things.

In the last week Dave has insisted that he will be the following professions:  firefighter, soldier (because they get to carry guns, of course), work at White's like dad, and a basketball player.  So we'll see if any of those turn out.  His teacher this year is Miss Stephanie who he absolutely loves and he seems to be having a ton of fun so far in his class.  He loves to watch youtube videos of kids talking about random things like video games and opening up blind bags.  His favorite TV show is probably Power Rangers right now.  And he is obsessed with anything to do with Legos (especially mini figures).

Ike having a blast playing with noodles.

Dave making a pouty face.

But look at that grin!

Ike keeping our yard looking the best in the neighborhood :)

Bennett, Dave, and Ike playing superheroes upstairs.

Finally, here's a video of Ike singing the Batman and Spider-man songs (sort of) and then attempting to jump.  He really did jump this morning, but has had trouble repeating the skill  :)

Dave's First Day of School

My baby is all grown up.  I am barely coping with the fact that he has officially started his journey in school.  Next thing I know he'll be off to college...there must be a way to slow this down!

So I have these grand ideas that someday Dave and his children or grandchildren will be reading my blog posts (don't spoil my dreams) and since I can't be crafty enough to create a killer sign like I see on pinterest, I thought I would do a first day of school questionnaire with him every year and stick it on the blog.

Dave's 1st Year of Preschool

Teacher-Miss Tammy

Favorite Food-Meat (pork chops and meatloaf) and mac and cheese

Favorite Song- "Dad Gum" by Heavy Metal Mater (from Mater's Tall Tales

What I want to be when I grow up-
   1) Work with Daddy in his office.  When I asked him what dad does all day he said, "he looks at his computer"
   2) "You'll see me on TV fighting the Green Goblin"  -I think that means he would be Spiderman?

When I asked him to name a real job...
   3) "Driving a monster truck is a real job...or a motorcycle"

So there you have it.  Dave has a fantastic imagination.  And he's a tiny bit unrealistic when it comes to career goals.

Excited for his first day!

Checking out his awesome sign  :)

I may or may not have bribed him with a kit kat for this one.

He did great his first two days.  No tears, and it seems he had a good time.  When I asked him what he learned at preschool he said, "stuff".  So I guess that is what I'm going to hear every day after school for the next 14 or so years.  Awesome.

Ike Turns 11 Months

Everything always happens at once...Dave started preschool on the day Ike turned 11 months old.  Too much growing up for this mom!  So not ready for him to be a year old.

Pictures of his 11 month shoot...

He sat really still for about one second.

Until he realized there was a sign behind him that had to be taken down.

Ike definitely won this photo session.

He is into absolutely everything now.  I call him the baby tornado.  Still super happy as always, but does tend to get his feelings hurt when someone (Dave) steals a toy from him.  He has yet to stop sticking his hands in my mouth while he is nursing, but he is down to only nursing before bed now.  Unfortunately, he has not quite gotten the hang of using a sippy cup, so he relies on me to help him.

He loves to eat, especially macaroni and cheese-

Yes that is a piece in his hair and on his ear.  Not the cleanest eater.

Much like his older brother, he climbs on everything nowadays.  Here's a video of him climbing into the power wheel truck.

Taking advantage of the heater to get a little boost.

Hard to be upset with his ingenuity and cuteness.

The other day I was doing some of my part time work while Ike hung out with me in the front room.  He was a little too quiet so I looked up to find this.

As if he wasn't high enough, he has to be on tip toes!

You would think that with all of these climbing skills, he would be walking by now.  Definitely not the case.  No steps on his own, but he is really good at walking while holding onto fingers.

Just hanging out in a cabinet he decided needed to be reorganized.

He loves to be outside and often bangs on the glass door to be let out.  Unfortunately, he insists on eating anything tiny the entire time.

While I was worried about him eating rocks, he figured out how to turn on the faucet.

Ike absolutely loves to imitate sounds, and is getting really good at it.  He can also say a few words:  hi, no, mama, dada, and something that sounds like Dave.

This is the face he makes whenever he is making crazy noises after dinner.
