Halloween 2018

Mom took this adorable picture of the kids and their pumpkins in Evansville.

Ike went as Harry Potter for favorite character day at school. Dave as usual decided to opt out.

Paul George, baller.

Ike went as floss. And he flossed. I was pretty proud of this costume. Here's him in action.

With my favorite tree on campus!

Staff kids ready for trick-or-treating.

Bennett and Ike.

Love these boys!

Fall Break Trip to Evansville

The kids and I took advantage of their fall break and spent a long weekend in Evansville. Josh had to work unfortunately but we had a great trip and he was off the rest of the week with the kids after we got back!

The boys with Gamma and Grandpa Dave.

We listened to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in the car. Love quiet kids and audiobooks!

We hung out with Kyra and Dad at Ivy Tech's Halloween party when we got to town. The boys had a blast.

Mom and I took the boys to a tour of a haunted house in Newburgh. They loved walking through it in the daylight!

Gotta say it was still pretty creepy!

I think this was some kind of mutant goat?

Ike got his face painted like this. 45 baby wipes later and it was off.

Helping grandpa Charlie make dumplings!

Ike and some deer across the street from mom's new house!

We had a fun, quick trip! I have got to get better about taking more pictures...gonna work on that going forward!

Birthday Celebrations and Battle of 1812

We were super busy in October-birthdays, Halloween, concerts oh my! Josh's grandpa Dave turned 80 this year (as did my grandpa Dave!) so we celebrated with him and the family.

Dinner out.

Handsome fellas!

Battle of 1812 with our crew.

Patiently awaiting the river battle.

Took this coming home from lifeguarding one evening. It was so beautiful.

We had a big shindig for Grandpa Dave's birthday/fall celebration out at the farm. Everybody came out for it and we had a blast hanging out with the family.

Ike with Amaya.

Super cheese Dave :)

I think Grandma Mary might be her favorite though.

Meranda, Sophie, Ike, and Zac.

Chad, Zac and Grandpa Dave.

Caleb and Dave.

Seemed like everybody had a blast at the fall cookout/birthday bash! We had lots of good food, warm drinks (it was not very toasty outside) and great company. Grandpa Dave and Grandma Mary took off for sunny Florida a couple of days after the cookout and we were all jealous. Can't wait to see them again in February!

Asheville

So I completely forgot about posting Josh and I's trip to Asheville in September! We decided to go because of the good hiking/scenery and of course the good food. My mom came up to watch the kiddos and we set off on our 4 night adventure!

To start with I felt pretty awful-sore throat, achy. We stopped in Indy to get a rental car and while there I had Josh drop me at a clinic to make sure I wasn't dealing with an actual illness. I wasn't, so I buckled down on drinking lots of fluids and taking ibuprofen constantly. Seemed to do the trick throughout the week!

I didn't get a good picture of our VRBO we stayed at, but it was super cute and very close to Asheville proper. Also it was a great bargain, which I'm always looking for on vacation! We pretty much just ate and tried to get hikes in when it wasn't raining. We picked a heck of a week to be in the mountains-it rained pretty much every day and was extremely foggy most mornings. I was very glad we didn't have the kids with us because we had to be super flexible with the weather!

We went on a tour of water falls-this is Sliding Rock.

One morning promised a 2 hour window of sunshine-we took our chances and a rough drive up the mountain to check out Craggy Gardens area.

Whew that sun was blinding after days of clouds!

The fog rolled in on our way back down!

Ever the risk taker, Josh thought we should try our luck at Mount Mitchell. Judging by the parking lot when we got up to the top I was not super hopeful.

Great view huh?

One other couple was up with us and we waited oh so patiently...

It was all worth it. We only ended up waiting about 10 minutes and we got maybe 15 of sunshine.

Somehow I took 0 pictures of all the awesome food we ate, but here are some of the restaurants we went to so that I can remember them later! Bhramari Brewing Company (probably our favorite place), Rhubarb (delicious pimento cheese hush puppies), Early Girl Eater for breakfast, Tupelo Honey for a quick snack before real dinner one night (we try to fit in lots of places), Butcher Bar (best Rueben Josh has ever eaten which is saying a lot!). We also had a lot of fun touring some breweries and hanging out at a huge arcade (Asheville Retrocade) one afternoon when it was rainy.

One huge bonus to our trip was getting to see one of Josh's favorite bands Chromeo while we were there. They added Asheville to their tour after we planned our trip so when I saw they were going to be there when we were I bought tickets!

Josh was geeked.

I am a fan but not an ultrafan of Chromeo but even I had to admit it was one of the best concerts I had been to!

They were so fascinating to watch on stage!

Well that about wraps up our trip! I would highly recommend going to the area if you have any interest in food, outdoors or craft brews! It was especially great to reconnect with each other and we were super excited to get back and hear all about the boys' week at school while we were away.

Fall Out Boy Concert!

The boys have been huge Fall Out Boy fans ever since Dave watched Big Hero 6. I have been wanting to take them to a show for a while, but it hasn't worked out until this year. To add to their excitement we took the Elliott twins with us because they are huge fans too!

On our way!

Oh so patiently waiting for the concert to start.

Way, way up in the nosebleeds.

Had to bust out some noise cancelling headphones for Machine Gun Kelly. I was not very pumped about him being their opener!

After waiting forever Fall Out Boy finally came on stage! We ended up moving much closer so that was really awesome.

Dave with all the cell phone lights going. Here's a little video from this song.

Flying through the air. I thought that looked pretty unsteady.

Ike got a little sleepy as the concert went on-it was a super late night and an even earlier morning the next day!

One last look before heading out.

It really was a great concert-I'm not a huge Fall Out Boy fan but they were awesome in concert! The kids had an absolute blast and it was so fun to take Aug and Zoe to their first concert. I would definitely see them again-especially if they had a more palatable opening act next time :)

Ike is 6!

Absolutely cannot believe that Ike is 6 already! He has grown into such a fun, energetic, and caring boy. We have lots of adventures with him around and we are definitely always laughing!

For his birthday I surprised him with a "Nailed It" competition. If you haven't seen the show on Netflix I suggest you watch it immediately, but basically it's a baking competition where the bakers are amateurs creating ridiculously hard cakes with not enough time. The kids love it and they had a blast trying to recreate a cake pop that I made.

Dave, Ike and Kyson competed.

Here is what they were trying to make. I think I made it too easy! Kyson turned out to be the winner by a landslide.

Ike's into lots of stuff these days-Harry Potter, spy gear, reading-so he got a wide array of presents this year. Our present to him was tickets to go see Fall Out Boy, which I'll post about later!

New spy glasses. We cannot locate the old pair!

Scuba gear for the pool.

With his happy birthday cake pops. I had to get creative with the display :)

Photo bomb from big bro.

Cake pops in all their glory.

Here is a video I took of Ike. He's not much into my video taking lately, or picture taking for that matter. Hoping he grows out of that because I sure do love to force pictures on the kids!

Some things about Ike:
-he has recently started asking Dave to sleep with him. Not sure why but it is so stinking cute!
-he loves to listen to books (be still my heart!) and is fairly confident sounding out words now.
-still spends a large amount of his time outside-lately he has been making a sludge of sorts out of bits of sand and mud
-taking after Dave, he has gotten pretty good at fortnite-he even had his first victory a couple weeks ago!
-he really enjoys helping in the kitchen

That's all I can think of for now! I love watching this kid grow up and explore...he has such an interesting perspective and I love hearing about things through his eyes!
