Two Months Old

Today officially marks Dave's 2nd month birthday. Marking off how old dave is reminds me of how a new relationship starts. First you celebrate all the "month-iversaries" and eventually it turns into a yearly anniversary. Like his yearly birthday. But for now, we will celebrate every little milestone...you're welcome.

Onto the stats. We had his two month check-up yesterday. He is smack dab in the middle of the road. He now weighs 11 lbs 9 oz (that's a 4 pound increase from birth), which puts him in the 45th percentile. He is 23 1/2 inches long, which puts him in the 60th percentile for height. Everything else was great, and we're going to get his shots tomorrow. He is very excited. I'm sure that I'll blog about how that goes...

For comparison:

Look how big he has gotten!

And finally, the single cutest picture to date...

8 weeks: Can you believe it?

Our little fella is growing up too fast! I have officially packed away all of his newborn stuff (heartbreaking) and he goes for his two month check-up on Monday. I'm all sappy.

So, to rid my mind of the terribleness that is Dave getting bigger, here is a picture of Josh's dinner on Thursday...

You may be asking, "Is that an entire pizza propped up by the heating coil in the bottom of an oven?" If so, the answer is yes. Do not fret, it actually wasn't too bad to clean up. It did ruin the pizza though.

We have been spending lots of time working on Dave's tummy time. It's definitely paying off-check out those biceps! Sometimes I really think he's going to push himself off and crawl.

And of course he practices that smile 24/7.

He also learned that he has a tongue. And he sticks it out all the time. I have had several conversations with him about this being rude, so far it's not sinking in.

Another video for your viewing pleasure--this one is of him waking up.

7 Weeks

We're still catching up on posts now that I'm back to work. And Josh came down with pneumonia this week-thankfully he's getting over it pretty quick. So, here are a couple of 7 week pictures and videos so I can finally catch up!

We went to visit Josh's great-grandma...making her Dave's great-great-grandma. She loves babies!

Dave loves his carseat. Or maybe he just knows it means he gets to ride in the car...

More smiles, sorry I can't get enough.

And we just used Dave to figure out what to have for dinner. We put him between two options and whichever one he turned to was the winner. Kind of a fun game. I highly recommend it if you happen to have an infant at your disposal.

Visit to Evansville (6 weeks update)

I promised I would update about visiting my family down in Evansville (Newburgh really)-so here goes.

Josh and I took a week's vacation (just the end of my maternity leave) and headed down for Dave to meet lots of new people with the added bonus of relaxation. It was a great trip!

We split the time between my mom and dad's (proud grandparents all around) and with all the babysitters Josh and I got to go on a couple of dates. Very nice for new parents! Tony took us to something called Quiz Night which was super fun, even though we didn't win (good try though team).

Mom also hosted a little open house for people to come meet Dave-thanks to everyone who came...it was wonderful to see everyone.

Alright, on to pictures. My grandpa (one of the Dave's he is named after) was absolutely smitten with the little fella, as you can see-

He also got to meet his Uncle Tony. It took a little warming up for Ton to gain Dave's good graces...

Dave was a little skeptical at first.

Since we were off, Josh got to dress Dave in his favorite outfits. The poor kid was stuck in footie pjs when I was dressing him.

He is loving his jumpman sock hat.

And finally, we took a four generation picture with my mom and grandpa-pretty cool.

Well, since Dave is already 7 weeks, I have a post to catch up-so look for that here in a couple of days. Hope everyone is well!

Smiles All Around

Quick post just to mark Dave's accomplishment-I'll post more about our trip to Newburgh/Evansville in a couple of days.

Here is what Dave did right before we left last Sunday (the 3rd)

And if you go to this youtube video, you can see how far he has come in just over a week!

Happy New Year...5 Weeks Old!

This video is from a couple of weeks ago-I think he was 3 weeks at the time. Dave has a daily battle with hiccups, so I felt it was only appropriate to post his struggle with them. So far, we have yet to find a cure. If you have any suggestions, comment below!

A friend of mine from college (Liz) sent Dave this adorable outfit. His latest ambition is to be Freddie Mercury (as you can see, he's practicing in this picture)

Pooped out after all that singing practice.

Josh and I have been working on getting Dave out and about more often. Yesterday we took a trip to Walmart, Mi Pueblo (best Mexican), and later we perused the Marion mall. Dave loves his Snugli -Josh carried him around in it all afternoon and he slept the entire time. Sweet.

Well I hope everyone had a great start to the year! We're headed down to E-ville for a week to show Dave off to everyone down there. And when we get back, my maternity leave is over, wah wah wah. I am excited to get out of the apartment more often though. Kinda getting cabin fever.

After practicing some "tummy time" on the floor, I flipped Dave over to capture his super cute Mommy's All Star outfit. What is he looking at? Oh, just the IU/Michigan game on the TV. An IU fan from birth!

First Christmas and One Month Old!

Well I hope everyone had a great Christmas! Ours was nice and uneventful. We had a wonderful time hanging out with Josh's family, and look forward to some time with my family in a week or so.

This post is mainly for pictures, as Dave couldn't really enjoy Christmas yet. He slept most of the day. He did get some cute new clothes and a couple of toys that he should be able to play with soon.

He has been holding his head up very well lately and he's starting to notice his hands. Also, he's definitely working up being able to smile voluntarily. I'm really excited about that!

Alright, onto pictures...

As you can see, Dave has recently acquired the ability to focus. And he always wins staring contests, just try him.

Auntie Em with Sophie and Dave. The babies need a little coaching so they look at the camera for pictures...

Officially one month old. My how time flies. Notice his funky hands-he's working on using them for real.

The cousins take a nap.

Dad and Dave. I'm not sure what's up with Dave's fist pumping. He must be excited about something.

Dave in his Christmas bib, commemorating the day.

And here is a short video clip of Dave and Sophie Christmas morning.

Hopefully I'll be uploading more videos here soon.

Activity Galore

This past week we were very busy with visitors and visits. After mom and andrew left, dad and kyra came in to meet Davey.

Dad hanging out with Dave. Turns out his stomach is the perfect "bump" for Dave to sleep on. Unfortunately for Dave, Josh and I don't have this state-of-the-art grandpa feature.

While they were in, we went to the Bowyer family Christmas at Grandma Bertie's. Dave was incredible there, especially with all the people holding him and such. He didn't make a peep! Kind of crazy for such a little guy.

Here's the new great-grandma and Dave.

Also, Dad helped us cook Christmas dinner for the cottage on Sunday. He brought up a huge ham that he smoked on the grill and we made the rest of the fixins for dinner. I think the guys really enjoyed it, plus they received lots of stocking stuffers to open. All of them will be gone for Christmas, so we had to do this a little early.

Our child has a mullet/rat tail. Here is picture evidence. Maybe I should put up a poll on whether or not we cut his hair. I'm of the opinion that we shouldn't cut it, but Josh is awfully convincing in his concerns over Dave's self-esteem.

The rat tail. It looks like a mullet when it's not pinched together.

And here is Dave getting annoyed at our constant pictures...

...or maybe he's not all that upset afterall. I'm thinking he's just a ham for the camera :)
Well, now we have Christmas to look forward to. We're hanging out with Josh's family since we're off Christmas Eve and then going back over on Christmas. Yay for the guys getting homepasses! Otherwise they would be stuck here at the cottage with us. Not that we're not awesome.
Hope everyone has a great Christmas! Don't worry, I will post lots of pictures...

Being 3 Weeks Old is Exhausting

He's three weeks old today, and growing so fast! I am dying to buy a baby scale so I can see how much he weighs now. Unfortunately, we'll just have to wait until his two month appointment, bummer. Even though he is getting bigger he still sleeps just as much, as will be evident from this post.

This week we put up our Christmas tree, which Dave thoroughly enjoyed.

Clearly having an awesome time.

And since he is so impatient, he decided to eat my hand before I could feed him. Not cool buddy.

That was pretty much his only activities of the week. My mom and stepdad came up to visit so he was very spoiled and received more ridiculously cute stuff.

Josh and I started him in his cloth diapers this week. It is going surprisingly well. A lot of this has to do with the really cool diaper sprayer that attaches to our toilet to wash off the poo. It is the most practical baby related item purchased to date. If you cloth diaper, I highly recommend it.

On to the sleeping...

Napping with Dad on the couch. Right after this he punched Josh in the face. Hilarious.

Napping on Dad. Check out the reindeer on his bum.

And the kicker-I caught him yawning. I need to videotape him when he wakes up. It takes about 10 minutes to get him fully awake and he has the funniest expressions as he wakes up.

Well, I'm posting this during the Colts game, so I better get going and give my full attention to Colts domination (hopefully). Mom leaves tomorrow to be replaced by my dad and stepmom. Busy busy!

Two Weeks

So, Dave is officially two weeks old as of last Thursday. It seems that he's been around much longer than that! In a good way of course.

I love this picture. I think you can see what he'll look like as he gets older. I really need to get a less girl cover for my boppy pillow. It's so easy to pose him in it, but I'm sure he'd appreciate a manlier (that's a word) background.

Dave and I went on our first outing together-we headed down to Indy with Josh's mom to bake cookies with her and his sister. The new cousins were able to hang out, well as much as a ten week old and two week old can. Mostly they slept and ate.
In wonderful news, he slept almost 6 straight hours last night! Success. We'll see if he keeps this up, but we've been bribing him for future gifts if this continues. In fact I'm pretty sure Josh promised him the newest gaming system on his tenth birthday the other day. Surely Dave understands how awesome that would be.
We're gearing up for another string of visits-mom and Andrew are coming in on Wednesday and then my dad and Kyra are coming up on Saturday. Everyone wants to hang out up here now that Dave's here. I see how it is :) We also have a family Christmas party to go to, so I hope Dave's ready to get his travel on.

Dave looked cold yesterday, so clearly I dressed him in a ridiculous hoodie that has a hat with ears. And I'm pretty sure he's busting out a new dance move.

Here are the Christmas cuties. I think Sophie was smooshing Dave. He likes his personal space.

Hope everyone has a great week!
