Mini photoshoot

Not much has been going on with us lately. We'll all been feeling sickly on and off, so we've been laying low.

I did forget to mention in my last entry that we made our own laundry detergent last week. I used this recipe. After doing the math, it came out to a penny a load. I know, sounds crazy, but it smells great and works really well. So, that's our money saving tip!

Anyway, our guys have to participate in a flag football league, and Dave and I went out to watch the first game. While there, I decided to take some outdoor pictures of Dave.

Love the buzz cut!

Doesn't he look contemplative?

Every time Josh gives him a bath, Dave ends up with some kind of bubble facial hair. I believe this was a goatee.

And to add to the list of things that Dave pulls out of the trash, here's a video of him talking to tortilla chips. Video

Sumner Wildlife Museum

Last Wednesday Dave, Josh, and I made a visit to a local museum. We had been meaning to go for a while and finally went to check it out.

This place was AWESOME. Mr. Sheets went on numerous hunts/fishing trips throughout his life and donated a great portion of his collection to this museum. He has basically hunted every sweet animal you'd ever want to see. I'll let a couple pictures speak for themselves.

Tiger. I think it had been killing cattle and maybe had killed a couple local villagers. That was why Sheets was able to hunt it. Otherwise, they are protected.

Dave was mesmerized by the baboon.

I forget what kind of shark this was. I think my favorite part of the museum was the fish section.

Lion and other various African animals.

This moose was enormous.

Dave absolutely loved it and spent most of the time talking to the animals. He didn't really get that they were dead.
Of course, I took a video...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NNSzDvFlm8

This past week, Dave came down with an ear infection. He's been pretty sick (but has gotten much better) and this has completely messed up his sleeping. Anyway, Dave decided to get up at 4 AM the other day and was ridiculously chipper.
Here's the evidence. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15789-3wWcg

Lots of videos!

Here are a few leftover pictures from Evansville and some new videos!

Dave, Zack Morris called, he wants his phone back.

I remember when this toy was the coolest. Now, it's totally retro.

I realized I didn't include a picture of Dave and Uncle Tony. Sorry Ton!

And finally, on to videos.

I got Dave to clap on video...9 months clapping

And he can wave! 9 months waving and banging uke

Have a great rest of your week!

Visit to Evansville

We just came back from a week long vacation to Evansville to visit my family. Dave became reacquainted with everybody and even was able to see my grandma and cousin from Kansas. All around a great time! I'll tell our journey in pictures, since that's what everybody really wants to see :)

Grandpa and Dave hanging out at Angel Mounds. We had to make a pit stop under the pecan grove because it was insanely hot this day. Of course we went on the only hot day we were down there!

Us in front of the main mound. Turns out these are not burial mounds like I've thought my entire life. Not as cool now...

It was much nicer on Friday so we went for a walk in downtown Evansville with my brother.

Saturday we went to the zoo with my dad, grandma, Tony, and my cousin Sabrina. This is our Hiatt four generations picture.

Dave takes jaguars very seriously.

Checking out some kind of reptile with Josh and my cousin Sabrina. Dave absolutely loved all the wildlife (as well as people watching)!

This is Donna the hippo. She is the oldest hippo in captivity-I think it said she was 57. I could not believe how huge she is, the picture does not do her justice.

Dave and dad at the petting zoo.

Sunday evening we all went to grandpa's to have pizza and celebrate my Aunt Kathy's birthday. Here's the Bradfield four generations picture.

On Tuesday we took a picnic to Wesselman Park with my mom. Dave really loves to swing!

And finally, Dave was big enough to ride in his car on this trip. Mom was racing him up and down the side walk and he had a fabulous time.

How's that for some pictures!?

In other news, Dave waved for the first time at my grandpa as we were leaving. I was so pumped! Now he sort of does it most of the time. He's a little selective still. He is also clapping on occasion, which we've been working on for months. And finally, he can stand up without holding on to something. So, he no longer crawls anywhere. It's kind of crazy.

Hopefully some people made it through all that! If you did, here's a video treat for you...

A day (or 20 minutes) at the park

I realized the other day that, although Dave had visited many parks, he had yet to get on a swing. Since swinging is one of my favorite things to do, I felt this must be rectified. So, we visited the local park this morning.

I think he liked it! He sure held on tight though.

Don't be alarmed, Dave was well supervised. Josh ran out of the shot.

After the success on the swings, Dave played on some equipment and we took him on a mini teeter-totter. Then, on to the slide!

After his very first slide. I went with him on the first go round. From then on he went down all by himself. (Even on a much bigger slide)

We let him walk around on the mulch for a while, but then he did a diving roll into it. After picking all the mulch out of his mouth, we decided it was time to head out. It's hard reasoning with a nine month old that eating mulch isn't a good idea.

9 months old!!!

Oh my goodness my baby is getting so old! He is walking everywhere, getting new teeth, and beginning to make sounds that seem like words.

We did his nine month photo shoot. This is the best shot. Every single other picture is blurry.

Dave and his books.

Josh's mom played dress up with Dave. Poor little guy. I have to say, I think he really enjoyed that diaper cape.

We finally figured out that Dave will sit in a high chair...you just have to bribe him with cheese. Now I don't have to put him in a baby head lock to get him to eat!

Check out those chompers! These little teeth have been the bane of our existence this past week. We finally had another break through (although, not the other front tooth). Hopefully his other front tooth comes in soon to even things out.

Dave and Sophie hanging out at (great) Aunt Veronica's. They were both very upset I wouldn't let them have my camera.

Here are two videos of Dave walking-sorry if the quality is bad, I couldn't watch them before I uploaded them. Stupid computer!

This Wednesday we will be heading to Evansville to visit family for a whole week! We cannot wait to take a vacation and relax with the fam. Hope everyone has a great week!

The cell phone

A couple of weeks ago, Dave put my cell phone in the toilet. Amazingly, I put it in some rice for a couple of days and it still worked. Now, a smart person would no longer allow him to play with it...but who can resist this face?

Please mom-I promise to stay away from toilets.

Of course, he immediately tries to eat it.

What? Does it have another purpose?

Trying to get away with the phone. This is his quick getaway walk. Doesn't it look like he's getting frisked?

Anniversary

This past week Josh and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary. Crazy how time flies! We took a family picture at Emilee's graduation celebration. (Congrats to Emilee for finishing her program!)

This is at the Mississinewa Overlook. It's a very pretty spot.
Kinda wished we were out on the reservoir that day...it was approaching 100 with the heat index.

Great-grandma Mary and Grandma D hanging out with Dave at the party.

Dave has this habit of going to his bookshelf and pulling out every single book. It's becoming less and less adorable. Of course, he thinks he can do no wrong-check out that grin!

Dave and Sophie fighting over his new walker toy. They were so cute together last week! They are really starting to play now instead of just staring at each other.

In Dave updates: We have been working really hard to establish a night time routine with Dave and stick with it. So far, we give him a bath, read a book, and then I feed him before putting him down. He cries for a couple of minutes and then usually falls asleep.

I have also stopped feeding him in the middle of the night-we started that about 5 nights ago and it's getting better every night. He typically wakes up once a night and I let him cry for a while then check on him and change his diaper.

Finally, he got in one of his top teeth! I haven't been able to get a picture of it yet, but will post as soon as I do. We're pretty sure he's cutting his 2nd tooth on the top-have I mentioned how much I hate teeth?!

And here's a video of Dave and Sophie chasing each other around.

Watch out world!

It's official...Dave's walking! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1iQmxIBGhU

I will post pictures and videos of Dave and Sophie together tomorrow probably, just had to get these out there!

Here's a picture I forgot to put in the post about visiting Eville. Great-grandpa Dave loved showing off little Dave-two very happy fellas.

Trip to Evansville

We spent this past weekend hanging out in Evansville, a little preview to the week vacation we're taking down there at the end of the month. We had a great time...Dave remembered everything more quickly this time. I think as he gets older he'll do better and better when traveling to places that he hasn't seen in a while. He's always a little timid at first.

Dave trying to snack on Kyra's steak. Don't worry, we didn't let him eat it. Pretty sure he licked the delicious steak juices off his fingers.

His first corn on the cob! Well, the first butter from the corn on the cob. He's currently cutting one of his top teeth, so it's only a matter of time until he can actually eat it.

Dave and uncle Tony.

Hanging out with granddad in the pool.

Tony saw a video of a baby doing this on youtube. So, of course, Josh had to recreate it.

Dave started scooting random furniture around to get from place to place. Here is him pushing mom's stool around the kitchen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jc1jqBZboXs

So, mom went out to find Dave an actual toy he could use for this. He loved it! He's been pushing it all over our house. However, he constantly gets it stuck and starts screaming. Thanks mom :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm6O2_yLhqI
