Summer Camp and Cousins

The boys all were able to head to Quaker Haven camp together this summer. They were beyond excited to all go and they even got in the same cabin! We met up at Aunt Gayle's house to swim and pick up the Smith boys on the Saturday before camp. 

Sunday before we took the boys to camp we went to church and then had a quick lunch with Josh's parents.

Ben came to camp this year as well and was also in their cabin.

The Smith boys stayed one more night with us so they got to hang out with the neighborhood crew.

The boys all had a blast-they spent lots of time swimming in the lake and told us all kinds of stories about the food and the friends they made at camp. I think they're going to be able to go to the same camp again next year! So fun for them to make memories every summer. 

Next up is the quick trip Josh and I took to Michigan since the boys were gone for the week!
 

Kids in Evansville and Beginning of Summer

After our trip to Kentucky the kids went off to stay with my family in Evansville for several more nights. They split their time between my mom and dad and had many adventures. They got to go paddle boarding with Grandma Kyra, spend time with the cousins, go golfing with Tony and Gamma and for a ice cream date with Aunt Kathy. 

While the kids were in Evansville we had a delicious dinner celebrating my birthday at 110 Craft Meatery in Warsaw and just hung out and worked until mom drove them back up to us.

Leading up to the boys going to camp they kept pretty busy. 

Ike had his last soccer game of the spring. 

 

Dave convinced us to try those viral cheeseburger tacos. They were pretty good!

Dave went to see his first drive in movie with the Getz family. They watched the new Spiderverse animated movie. 

Ike attended robotics camp. He really enjoyed that!

Josh and I pressure washed the shed and the front porch. Trying to get up what must have been the best glue money could buy back when the carpet was put down!

All in all a good beginning to June! 

Bradfield Trip to Kentucky

Over Memorial Day weekend the Bradfield family got together in Kentucky for a couple nights stay. This was a trip we had planned with Grandpa before he passed so it was definitely bitter sweet to all get together without him, but we had a great time and made so many memories. 

Most of the crew out by the docks. The water was super low so the dock wasn't actually in the water.

The house we rented was humungous and had a ton of yard to play on (it was a touch hilly but we worked with it). Mom brought a bunch of stuff to do outside-cornhole, a putting green, net to hit golf balls in, etc. So we spent a bunch of our time outdoors and down by the water.  It was so pretty here! Some of us swam but then we saw snakes in the water and that was it for me. Thankfully it wasn't very hot so we were okay staying out of the water mostly!

At night we played games and usually ended up doing a game kind of like charades. We were definitely not playing it right but it was a ton of fun!

The majority of our crew went on a golf outing to a nearby course while the rest of us enjoyed some peace and quiet. :)  

One last sunset and fire before we headed home. 

When we left, the kids headed to Evansville to spend several more days hanging out with the family there while Josh and I went home to work!

Last Day of School 2022-23

The boys had a fantastic year of school. 4th and 7th grade were very good to us! Ike absolutely loved his teachers (especially Mr. Denney) and Dave thrived being in the jr/high school with all the different classes and teachers. Ike's favorite subject was science and Dave's was math and science, he couldn't pick between them.

Ike really grew in his soccer game and enjoyed robotics, though his team didn't end up doing very well this year. He plans to participate in it again next year. 

Dave decided to opt out of basketball this year and instead focused on esports and robotics through most of the school year then picked up golf in the spring. Golf has been such a blessing for him and he continues to keep playing. He even won the local golf course scholarship for junior player and so will be able to play all year for free!

They are both very much looking forward to camp coming up and the trip to Kentucky with all of my close family. Here's to a great summer!

 

Soccer, Mother's Day, Ike's Injury

May was such a busy month! Ike had lots of soccer, we spent a ton of time hunting mushrooms, and Dave was in the midst of golf matches. Lots of fun stuff going on :)

Since we don't buy pictures I had Ike pose by my pretty lilac bush. 

We found the mother load of mushrooms! Such a fun day. 

Dave had a band concert. They all were so much better than last year at this time. Very impressed with their improvement!

We had a get together for mother's day with a lot of Josh's family. Good to see everybody!

I helped out at Ike's school with the carnival (they earn points by reading all year). He got this super nice hat, tinsel in his hair, and a bunch of soda. 

The cousins came up the next weekend. Here they are at Ike's soccer game. 

Sunday morning Josh and I went for a quick walk on campus while the kids played outside. About half way through we received a frantic call from Dave that Ike had gotten hurt. We ran home to find one of our neighbors helping out and Josh had also received two more calls from other adults on campus alerting us to what was going on (I love living on campus, it is truly so wonderful having people looking out for our family!). Turns out Ike had gotten in the way of a swing and his forehead was busted open. Everything ended up fine, and they just glued his head back together at the hospital!

 

Definitely a stressful morning but so glad Ike was fine in the end!
