Trip to Evansville and Holiday World

At the end of May/beginning of June we picked up the Smith boys and went to Evansville for a trip, but mostly to take advantage of my dad's company picnic at Holiday World. Dad was able to score some extra tickets so we all got to go which was so awesome!

On our way!

Living it up at Gamma's house.

Swimming at Tony and Ben's.

Before swimming at Grandma and Grandpa's. Ha, so much swimming!

My nephews and niece were visiting too so we got to hang out with Liam, Gavin and Morrison some.

Cute photo of Gamma and the boys.

Then we were off to Holiday World. It was a miserable day, but that led to lower wait times. It felt like we had the whole place to ourselves.

We did the regular park first, ate lunch, then went to the water park. I about froze to death there but we survived!

While Josh went to get the van, Tony and I took the kids to do one last ride. Dave and I chose the much tamer Good Gravy while the rest hit the Thunderbird again.

Such a fun trip, the kids kept asking when we could go back but we couldn't make it work this summer. Hopefully next year!

Last Days of School

Ike had his very last school carnival this year. It's so sad he's not going to be at the elementary school anymore!

Here he is in all his glory from winning prizes.

Gamma came up this weekend because the kids had some activities going on.

Dave's final band concert of the year. They played some fun songs this time around!

It's official, last day of school!

Comparison shot from 5 years ago.

We had a get together at Josh's aunts over Memorial Day Weekend.

These boys are so cute. They brought me breakfast on my birthday from 50 East.

Me and my neighbor buddy Wesley. He likes to come help me plant things :)

Mother's Day 2024

We had a beautiful Mother's Day this year! It can be iffy but we really lucked out this time. We went to church (Josh's whole family was up so everybody came) then had a get together at the valley.

Quick family picture in our backyard.

Not Mother's Day related but this plant was doing so well and I love how varied it looks.

Spring Sports and Outdoors

Dave started his second golf season this spring. He just loves it, which is so cool to watch! He had several matches the first couple of weeks.

Here he is at the Honeywell course.

I'm pretty sure this is at Etna.

Josh found a monster mushroom. Unfortunately we didn't have any more this size!

We participated in the campus yard sale and the kids helped me out with it. Dave came over Saturday morning while Ike had soccer and worked the food table for a bit.

Ike and Maddie hanging out around campus.

Got Ike weed-whipping this year. He does a pretty good job!

The Northern Lights were visible for us for a couple of evenings. This was so so cool.

Beginning of Spring

Right after we got back from Evansville Ike had his math bowl competition. He had some really tough questions!

We started off mushroom season. It ended up not being a great season for us but here's our first find, ha!

I got a little better with my sourdough making. Josh helped a lot! Here's my first real loaf. She was a beauty!

And with the last frosts over I got to work on my garden beds. I had some help from the neighbor kids :)

Spring Break Visit and Eclipse

Towards the end of the boys' spring break we went to Evansville to visit and stayed through to watch the eclipse down there.

One of the days my mom got us a pass to play a game around downtown Evansville. It ended up being very nice so we enjoyed our walk and following the clues!

We basically just hung around and enjoyed spending time with everybody otherwise.

While others were golfing, Ike and I helped Grandpa Charlie and Grandma Kyra with building a compost bin. Here's Ike on the saw.

Playing cornhole at Tony and Ben's before the eclipse.

Buster was ready.

Recreating a picture we took in 2017 during the last total eclipse :)

It always shocks me how dark it actually gets. The streetlights all came on, the wind died down completely, and all the birds stopped chirping. It is so cool!

Super fun visit!
