Family Trip to Old Hickory Lake

At the beginning of June, my whole family on my grandpa's side got together for a weekend in Tennessee. Our trip last year had been postponed, so we hadn't all gotten together like this in two years! We had so much fun and loved the lake we stayed on-Old Hickory Lake, just East of Nashville.

We couldn't check in until around 2, so our family and Justin, Tim and Emily went to Arnold's in Nashville for lunch. It's a Triple D establishment and the kids are obsessed with that show so they were super excited to try it out! Food was fantastic, if you ever go get the brussels sprouts!

The first night about half of us were there, so we just hung out and got things organized and had a quick dinner (I had made up broccoli, chicken and rice at home so it was ready).

For the rest of the trip, we just spent a lot of time lounging in the lake, playing cornhole and sitting on the decks chatting.

The mornings were so peaceful and beautiful!

I think we had enough ranch.

Kids jumping in. That water was cold! It's part of the Cumberland River so I think that's why it was still so chilly.

Tony with one of the only fish catches made on the trip.

Grandpa brought his golfcart and the kids appreciated the rides down the hill.

Foosball with Uncle Justin.

Kayak rides with Uncle Tony.

The kids kept snagging onto his kayak so he was always towing somebody.

Dave helping pull the Italian beef for sandwiches.

Evenings were pretty spectacular too!

Lots and lots of cornhole.

He's just too cute working on his crossword puzzle.

Getting a clue from grandpa during their scavenger hunt.

Spoils of the hunt.

On our last night we had a bonfire and roasted marshmallows. Of course Ike also threw in any cardboard he could come across!

Ben was tasked with supervising Ike and the fire. Not an easy job.

Playing euchre.

Grandpa and Tony towing the kayak with the golfcart.

Ike and Aunt Kathy playing pool in the basement.

Family photo!

One last chat before packing up.

Such a beautiful spot! I am so thankful that everybody was able to come to this trip! It was so nice to get away and just relax for a weekend. Can't wait to do it again!

Last Days of School and Beginning of Summer

At the end of the school year Dave's robotics team had a celebration where they handed out awards to all the students and then they were able to climb Unger Mountain (a huge climbing structure at Southwood High School). The boys had an absolute blast. Ike made it to the top a couple of times and Dave made it about half way.

Ike's been doing so well at his soccer games! A bunch of Josh's family came to watch him two weekends ago and he scored two goals!

Brother date at 50 East. They had some money from helping Josh's parents at their house :)

We had a get together for Josh's Aunt Veronica at Mississinewa at the end of May.

Veronica and Grandpa Dave.

Ike and Amaya.

Last day of 5th and 2nd grade!

Dave's buddy Jericho came to hang one day while his mom worked here at our school.

Claudia made the boys book sleeves so their books aren't destroyed in their backpacks next year.

Another brother date to 50 East. I have a feeling this will be a theme for this summer! This time it rained so they had to take umbrellas and were too cute not to document!

We had a good end to the school year and a great start to summer so far! I'm still working through June (my school is off for the month of July) so the kids are mostly fending for themselves during the week. This week they are in Evansville though after our trip to Tennessee-I'll post about that soon!
