McClure's Apple Orchard

On Monday, Josh's mom dropped Sophie off on her way to work. We planned to go to the zoo, but decided that may be a bit much. Instead we went to McClure's Apple Orchard, which is only about 20 minutes away...much more manageable.

The orchard has a petting zoo, which is perfect for little toddlers to explore. We mostly hung out with the goats and small horses.

Dave and his goat friend. The goat really appreciated all the hay that Dave fed him.

Sophie was pretty terrified of the animals at first. She kept saying they were "scary". Towards the end she warmed up a little. Since we were at an apple orchard, there were lots of rotten-ish apples on the ground. Dave and Sophie loved picking them up and taking them over to the very grateful horses. Kids feeding horses.

The kids getting up close and personal with the goats and horses.

There was also a huge pink tractor/loader thing that they both loved. Kids running around tractor.

Sophie and I posing by the huge horse.

Then we went to play on the playground they had set up. Sophie and Dave took turns climbing up and down the steps-one of their favorite words!

Sophie loved jumping down the steps with Uncle Josh.

Dave was a little possessive of his steps. Check out his face. Very upset that Sophie's hogging them.

We had a great time entertaining the little ones for the morning, then we hung out with Brittany (Josh's sister) and baby Caleb for the afternoon.

We have one more day until vacation! We're heading down to Evansville to hang out over Labor Day. Back to work next Friday-should be a great break for us.

21 months (plus visits with Sophie)

Another month birthday! I can't believe how close is 2nd birthday is!

He is really working on putting short sentences together. Like "Where daddy go?" and "Look mommy!". His current favorite foods are broccoli, ice cream, and pizza. Weird combo right? His favorite toys are still cars/trucks/anything with wheels. Typical little boy that's for sure.

Here he is in the bath. I've been working on my camera skills, and Dave's an easy target in the bath.

This past weekend Josh's mom watched Sophie, so they came over a bunch to hang out.

Sophie loved Dave's shades that my mom bought. She looked so stinking cute that she just kept them. Dave wasn't all that interested in them.

I don't remember what she was running to/from. Not only can she run (future track star?) but she can jump like nobody's business. Dave is super jealous of that particular skill.

And Dave always gets stuck pushing Sophie around on the trike. Dave looks weary from working and Sophie's so pumped to be enjoying the ride.

Puddles!

Dave has a serious obsession with puddles-anytime he sees one he immediately jumps right in. Last week a big rainstorm gave him the perfect opportunity to enjoy his favorite past time.

Video: Playing in the puddle

Video: Toes in mud, sitting in puddle.

As you can see, Dave found one of his old brushes in the garage-perfect tool for playing in puddles!

We have had a very uneventful week-just hanging outside and working. Josh is in training all this week, so Dave and I have been flying solo most of the day. Next week we're heading down to Evansville to visit for Labor Day (we took a week off)-we are really looking forward to some downtime.

Trip to Indy

On Wednesday, Dave and I headed down to Indy to meet with my friend Chelsea and her son. We had a blast-Dave especially loved getting to touch different animals-an elephant and some sharks.

Posing by the elephant's rear. And the kids aren't looking. Classic picture!

Dave touching the elephant-it felt really gross.

Nick and Dave checking out the baby elephant. It was so stinking cute!

Dave only ran away from me a couple times, so I count the trip as a success! He is getting so hard to keep in one place.

I had to include this picture-this shirt was a huge hit on campus.

And here's Dave eating broccoli for his night-time snack. This is what he asked for. What a weirdo. And...a video of him saying broccoli.

Anniversary and Columbus

This past weekend, Josh and I celebrated our 5th anniversary!

We went out to a fabulous restaurant in Columbus, OH called Tucci's California Bistro. I highly recommend it if you're in the area. Then, we were supposed to go to a Pure Prairie League concert downtown.

We parked, and started following the crowds into the venue. We got our tickets and then entered what we thought should be the baseball stadium. As we looked around, we didn't think that the type of crowd looked quite right. Turns out, we went to the wrong concert!

It was a summerfest thing featuring the band Cake (also including Surfer Blood and Boots Electric). Josh kind of likes Cake, so we decided to stay and had a great time. (Minus the part where a crowd surfer fell on me and the countless beers spilled on our feet!) Definitely a random and memorable 5th anniversary celebration.

Alright, enough stories! On to pictures...

At Scioto Park near Mom and Andrew's apartment.

Saturday we headed to the Columbus Zoo-it's awesome!

Josh, Mom, and Dave in the underground polar bear viewing area.

The polar bear swam all over-coolest zoo exhibit I've seen.

I'm hoping we never see a polar bear in the wild.

Dave and Gamma in the pool.

Cheesing out on the slide.

Saturday night Josh and I picked up some ice cream from Jeni's. It was crazy awesome-again, check it out if you go to Columbus!

We had a great weekend and celebration of our anniversary-looking forward to 5 more years and beyond!

An Exhausting Wednesday

On Wednesday, Josh's sister Brittany went to pick up her mom-in-law from the Indy airport. Since she now has two babies to keep track up, she asked us to watch Sophie while she was gone. Whew, what a day! It is exhausting to watch two toddlers!

You could say Dave was a bit jealous of Sophie getting our attention. I think she had one of his bears and he was not very happy about that. Here's a video of them jumping on the bed.

Sophie loved Dave's four-wheeler.

We took several walks in the wagon.

This one didn't go as well. Every time I stepped away, Dave started screaming.

He calmed down after I gave him my cool shades.

And finally, using teamwork they were able to ride the tricycle. Here's a video.

Cousins Fun

Josh's sister (Brittany) and her family came up this week so her husband Chad could attend his class at IWU. So, we've been able to spend a bunch of time with the new baby (Caleb)! We also got to hang out with all of Josh's grandparents Sunday night.

Here's Dave, grandma, and great-grandma.

Baby Caleb! So stinking cute.

Great-grandpa Dave and Caleb.

Dave and Sophie love hanging out together, at least most of the time.

Hugs.

Relaxing with cookies.

Then on Monday, we went back over to hang out at the pool.

Dave and his water wings. Here's a video.

Sophie being adorable.

Look at the big kids in their water wings!

Sophie and Caleb-sibling love...except Caleb's face is a little smushed by a ball.

And Dave in a bucket.

We're working all week, then heading to Columbus to hang with my mom this weekend. It's our 5 year anniversary!
