2020 Road Trip: Driving to Utah, Stop in Kansas

This summer we had an epic road trip planned to the Canadian Rockies and then on to Montana. Unfortunately we had to cancel all of that but we did a trip out to Utah and Colorado instead. And that meant we got to stop in Kansas to see some folks, which was a great addition to our trip!

Leaving campus on Friday, July 10th.

Only took a couple hours before our first technical difficulty. A piece of cosmetic trim started coming off the van and I had to hang on to it until we could stop!

We made it to Joe and Claudia's and got to visit with my Aunt Candy and Uncle Alan who live in Wisconsin. They just happened to be in town when we came!

The boys absolutely love Joe and Claudia's dogs!

Got a little yard Jenga in.

On Saturday we went over to my Uncle Steve's to do a social-distance visiting. It was so nice to see everyone...we hadn't been to Kansas in 4 years.

With my Uncle Lloyd and Uncle Steve.

We got one picture and my eyes are closed of course! I need to edit this somehow!

Oliver really took a liking to Dave.

And Ike and Hudson were fast friends!

Look at all these boy second cousins!

Joe let Ike and Dave take his lawn mower for a spin.

On Sunday we got up early and headed west again. Our plan was to stop in Glenwood Springs for the night but we called our condo owners and got in a day early in Moab. Quick 14 hour car ride :)

As we were driving in the western part of Colorado we saw a huge storm blowing in. It went from sunny to pouring down rain and then sunny again in about a half mile. So weird. But after the rain we saw a huge rainbow.

Kids were such good sports for all of our driving.

From the car so not the best picture but you get the idea!

The cloud looked crazy before the rain hit.

Checking another state off for the kids!

Double rainbow from the parking lot of our condo.

Another Evansville Trip!

Before we headed to Utah and Colorado the boys and I made a quick trip down to Evansville again. Tim and Justin joined us too so we had an awesome time!

Pool time and Tony and Ben's.

Hanging at Dad and Kyra's pool.

Grandpa invited us over for s'mores.

Serious business.

Ike was a hot mess!

Family Camp and Morning Walks

Over Father's Day weekend we headed up to one of our favorite places, Quaker Haven. Since we weren't sure what the country would look like as far as Covid goes by Labor Day, we took advantage of a deal they were having.

Dave and I walked to the entrance sign and back (took us about 30 minutes!)

Picture of the beach as I read my book.

Some people we know's parents own a boat and they took the boys out tubing. They had the best time!

Ike with Dave and Sophia in the tube.

Have I mentioned how much I dislike Blogger's new format? I cannot get this picture to go to the left. Oh well! Dave, Sophia and Ike all tubing.

So cute!

Dave and I on our morning walks. We've been doing almost 2 miles every morning.

And we finally got Dave's friends over for a sleepover! It had been so long.

Trip to Evansville (Finally!)

I am so behind on the blog but I do have a good excuse-Blogger has messed with the editing features and I was really hoping they'd fix it soon. Unfortunately that hasn't happened so I'm plugging along, but begrudgingly!

We finally got to visit Evansville over Memorial Day weekend. It had been since January for our last visit so we were all super excited. I didn't get tons of pictures (besides some family shots) but here is what I did take!

We had a socially distanced get together :)

Of course the boys had to take motorcycle rides with great-grandpa!

Ike talked Gamma into just a touch of whipped cream on his waffle (? hard to say what was under there, ha!)

Little archery in grandpa's backyard.

Cousins.

Playing with Hot Wheels.

Love this picture of the boys with Uncle Ben!

Couple of studs.

Such a good picture with the grandkids!

Had to get a good picture with Gamma too!
