On Monday, Josh's mom dropped Sophie off on her way to work. We planned to go to the zoo, but decided that may be a bit much. Instead we went to McClure's Apple Orchard, which is only about 20 minutes away...much more manageable.
The orchard has a petting zoo, which is perfect for little toddlers to explore. We mostly hung out with the goats and small horses.
Dave and his goat friend. The goat really appreciated all the hay that Dave fed him.
Sophie was pretty terrified of the animals at first. She kept saying they were "scary". Towards the end she warmed up a little. Since we were at an apple orchard, there were lots of rotten-ish apples on the ground. Dave and Sophie loved picking them up and taking them over to the very grateful horses. Kids feeding horses.
The kids getting up close and personal with the goats and horses.
There was also a huge pink tractor/loader thing that they both loved. Kids running around tractor.
Sophie and I posing by the huge horse.
Then we went to play on the playground they had set up. Sophie and Dave took turns climbing up and down the steps-one of their favorite words!
Sophie loved jumping down the steps with Uncle Josh.
Dave was a little possessive of his steps. Check out his face. Very upset that Sophie's hogging them.
We had a great time entertaining the little ones for the morning, then we hung out with Brittany (Josh's sister) and baby Caleb for the afternoon.
We have one more day until vacation! We're heading down to Evansville to hang out over Labor Day. Back to work next Friday-should be a great break for us.
