Our little fella just keeps getting bigger. (And more destructive, I'm typing this blog without a backspace key because he destroyed it.) Here is his 15 month picture:
This weekend we went to visit my family in Evansville. We couldn't take any extra days because of our vacation, so we had to do a whirlwind tour. The weather driving down was terrible, but it turned much nicer down there and Dave even played outside on Sunday!
Snacking on a Dove ice cream bar. Think he likes it?
This is from our house-I just couldn't resist a picture of his IU sweatsuit that Josh's grandparents (who we are visiting in Florida) bought him for Christmas. Too cute.
Dave, granddad, and Uncle Tony.

Sorry, no videos (unless my mom uploads one-I'll link it later). She got an awesome video of Dave talking to birds with my grandpa. We're heading down to Indy to fly out at 3:30 AM tomorrow morning, and then we'll be in sunny Florida!

Little Climber
Dave learned how to climb into his stroller and then close the tray. It kept him occupied for almost an hour yesterday!
I thought I'd update with a few pictures before we went on a weekend to Evansville, followed by our trip to Florida! (Have I mentioned that we're ridiculously excited about it?!)
Anyway, here are a couple of Dave's latest antics-he's getting so talented. Also, he's been cutting molars this past week. It hasn't been too bad, but last night he woke up in the middle of the night twice, which hasn't happened in months. Not good for mom!
He loves to play with utensils, and has learned to kind of say spoon.
Grandma D turned him on to cheese puffs-loves them!
Our little climber in action-look at that determination.
And he reached his goal! Look how excited he is to get to my phone.
Outdated technology must all look the same to babies. Notice he's putting a record in the cassette deck.

Visitors!
This weekend we had lots of visitors in our household. We knew that cousin Sophie was coming to visit for the day Friday and then back again Saturday. Then, we woke up Friday morning and found out that granddad (my dad) was coming up as a surprise! He was already in Indy and decided to trek up here to hang with us for the day.
Obviously, this led to many photo opportunities for me! Ready for picture overload?
The very best shot of them together-they are at a rough age for group pictures!
This is what Sophie did when I said "Smile Sophie!"
Uncle Josh got a good smile out of her!
So did my dad. Of course, Sophie loves him, but Dave is still up in the air about granddad.
Dave did like him from afar. He's smiling at my dad sitting across the room. Probably because he's making a ridiculous noise.
Dave needed a moment alone after all the activity.
On Saturday, Josh's mom and I took the kids to McDonald's to play in their tunnels and such. They mostly watched the other kids, but they did enjoy climbing onto the slides.
Both off in their own worlds.
Sophie climbed all the way up the stairs.
Dave checking out the tunnel.
I think this is my favorite picture of Dave to date. He is just so excited about whatever is going on.
And, of course, some videos.

A little taste of spring
We had a wonderful warm front come through this week and almost all of our snow has melted!
This is great preview weather for our trip to Florida (which is in 12 days!). We cannot wait to go on vacation-winter has seemed to last forever this year.
Clowning around with Dad.
Josh's mom got this for Dave for Valentine's Day. Notice it says Mini Menace-very appropriate!
He learned to climb up into our chair.
And he was really excited about it!
Just chillin on the couch. He thinks he is so grown up!
Videos! Making Kissing Noises. Splashing in the Tub. Lights on, Lights off.
Today Dave was playing in some milk he spilled on the kitchen floor while I was doing dishes. After I took his milk away, he went and grabbed the dish towel from the oven door and cleaned up his mess! He must have seen us clean up his messes so many times, now he knows what to do.

Funny Faces
Since my last post about the winter wonderland, we have gotten even more snow and the temperature continues to plummet! This has meant for a lot of time spent hanging out indoors (we usually venture out a couple times a week to browse the stores and whatnot). I have had more opportunity to capture Dave's antics, so there is an advantage to the cold I guess!
Dave has learned to say "night-night" (at least his version of it) and he carries around his blankies. In this picture, he's not actually tired, just showing off. I love how he is posed!
And here's a video of him. "Night-night"
You have to listen really carefully to hear it, and he says bye bye at the end.
He loves to climb on everything-here he is on our ottoman.
We are now the parents who put leashes on their children. Dave is showing off his new backpack that looks cute until we attach the leash to it. We tried it out at Target yesterday-it works pretty well. We got it to use at the airport so he can run off energy before the flight without running away.
Enjoying Oreos with grandma and grandpa.
Showing he knows where his ears are!
Here are a couple more videos. The first one is for my grandpa. I taught him how to say papaw and he says it now when we look at pictures of my grandpa. Papaw video. Listen carefully-he says it near the beginning.
And another one of him chasing his shadow. More shadow time.

Loving the Snow
We took Dave out into the winter wonderland this afternoon. When he walked on the snow, it didn't even crack. I guess it holds at least 20 lbs of weight! I broke right on through. We also pulled him around on the sled that my grandpa gave to Dave.
Of course, I took pictures and videos.
Riding on the sled. Click on the link to watch the video.
And another of him just running around in the snow. Playing in snow.
Having a kid who enjoys the snow sure makes it more enjoyable for us. But we are definitely looking forward to Florida in less than a month!

The Blizzard
Up here in Northern Indiana we geared up for the big blizzard all week. Josh and I went to the store on Monday (not for supplies, just normal old food) and it was crazy everywhere. Anyway, the snow started falling Monday night and we hunkered down. Here is what we woke up to on Tuesday morning:
I think we received a couple of inches, but nothing too bad-our kids still went to school on Tuesday.
We were projected to receive anywhere from 6-24 inches on Tuesday night. Instead we ended up with another couple of inches and some sleet/freezing rain.
This is Thursday morning (no snow melted yet, it's freezing up here!) You can't see this, but our door to the garage is snowed in-they kept plowing our road and now our door won't open!
Due to all of the freezing stuff, our county had a level one snow emergency (only medical and important people out on the roads). School was canceled and all that, so no free time for us. Overall though, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I really expected to be completely snowed in for several days. As it is, the kids had school today and the roads seem okay to drive.
I have taken pretty much no good pictures of Dave this week, so you're stuck with crummy ones. But, I will redeem myself with awesome videos.
Being very helpful by mopping the floor. Never mind that it's all his mess to start with.
My mom gave him a little laptop bag and he loves to carry it around.
I think he's afraid I'm going to take it from him. Definitely mean mugging.
Alright, here are the videos I promised to deliver on.
Playing on the couch.
