Knoxville Zoo

We are currently half-way to Charleston, stuck in a hotel room while the kids are sleeping.  Oh, the glamorous life of parenting :)

On our way down to the beach, we stopped in Knoxville for the night to break up the trip.  Thanks to our membership at the Fort Wayne Zoo, we get into a lot of other zoos around the country for a discounted price or free.  The Knoxville Zoo is one that is free (woohoo!) and has some pretty cool animals, so we went to check it out.

Ike was a little alarmed with the proximity of this elephant.

Zebras.

This giraffe was super close and Ike loved it.

Giraffes are hilarious.

This zoo has an amazing primate section-a couple gorillas and a ton of chimpanzees.  This particular chimp was just relaxing right by the viewing window.

Going in for a close look!

My little photographer capturing the komodo dragan.

Owl face.

Ike scaling the climbing wall at the kids section (which was really cool).

Dave had a blast playing, and got rid of a bunch of energy.

Overall, a pretty nice zoo.  It's always a good time when it's free though!  The trip is going okay so far-Dave has asked how much longer it is going to take about every 20 minutes.  So that's been fun.  Ike has done great, hoping he keeps it up for tomorrow's drive!
