We are almost at 7 months!

Yipes. Depending on how you look at it, time is flying by and this pregnancy is taking forever. I still haven't decided which one it is yet. Next week marks 7 months, but really it takes 10 months to cook a baby, so I've got about 3 left. One minute I feel completely ready and the next not so much. Hopefully by Thanksgiving I'm leaning more towards the ready!



Tonight Josh and the fellas (the boys) are at a christian rock concert featuring Crossover (a local band...the lead singer lives in the apartments next to us) and Red (a more widely known band of the genre). We received free tickets because we were very persistent, and I think the guys are gonna have fun.

This is what happens when the husband does not get the pregnant wife what she wants. I kid, I kid. He got slammed in the face while playing basketball. Nice huh? He's not going to be happy that I posted this, oops. Oh, and Josh loves his new basketball (a Wilson Evolution) more than he loves me. Sad but true. It's his "Christmas" gift from me. It's really hard to shop ahead for him!


In other news, we have been receiving lots of baby related items in the mail, including exciting things like a Dr. Seuss bobblehead Josh's mom found online. It's super cute, maybe I'll post a picture of it. I'm still working on the rest of the room. Should definitely get onto that, but I'm lazy. Alas.


I'm trying to figure out how to post a video because I took one of my stomach moving around. It's really creepy, but cool...in my opinion. Maybe my mom will appreciate it.

I've also been making some things for the baby. Since we're cloth diapering, we're also cloth wiping (is that a word?). So, I made us quite the stash, all for under $10. It's just terry cloth on one side and flannel on the other. Stitched, turned, and stitched closed. To use, you wet with water or water and baby soap of your choosing. Then wash with diapers. Kinda gross, but cheaper.

I also finished my new niece's (due in a month) baby blanket.

And speaking of baby related things, Josh's mom threw his sister and I a baby shower up here at a really cute bread shop in Wabash. Here's me and Britt at the shower, where we were lavished with gifts, most of mine coming in the form of ducks. The animal of choice for gender neutral :)

Well, that was one whopper of a post. Hopefully I can keep up again now that I'm getting back in the swing of things. We're getting two new guys tomorrow, fingers crossed they're not completely crazy. You just never know. And I have my glucose test and rhogam shot tomorrow, fun fun.

p.s. Josh wanted everyone to know that he is hungry. He said he'd never read the blog again if I didn't put it. The thing is, he never reads it anyway...guess the joke's on me :)

I am a terrible blogger

So, my mom has been on my case about my lack of blogging, so I figured I better take it up again. Lots of things have been going on, so here's a quick update and hopefully I can elaborate later.

I'm busy cooking baby Bowyer, set to be born November 25th. We're not finding out what we're having, so it'll be a surprise, but everyone is leaning towards boy. I don't really have an inclination either way. I'm really starting to show and strangers comment now. Not sure if that's good or bad :)

We went on vacation to Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, and Utah in July. Really awesome, but super hot. I'm going to work on posting pictures here soon.

We've been releasing guys left and right, but should be expecting a few new ones once school starts. Right now we're down to 9, where we had 16 in May. Crazy how quickly things change!

I have been working really hard on lots of crafting projects. Josh and I are going to cloth diaper and I've been making wipes to go along with them and crocheting a lot. I've also been trying to figure out how to decorate baby's room and I decided on a Dr. Seuss theme. However, it turns out this is the most impossible thing to find in a fabric, so I'm going to need to be creative.

Well, I plan on posting some pictures of my projects and some vacation pictures in here this week, so be looking for that if you're reading!

Whew, busy month!

So, the past month has been crazy busy. Our cottage now has a bustling 16 boys!! Along with that we had a retreat for the houseparents here at White's and most recently Josh busted up his knee.

We're still waiting to find out what is exactly wrong with the knee...MRI on Friday. However, it's looking like he tore his ACL which is not ideal. Hopefully we know soon.

In other news, my mom and Andrew are now Mr. and Mrs. :) We are all very excited for them! And, my bro Tony graduates from college this Sunday. I'm heading down there to watch and have fun at his party, but we're on duty this weekend so Josh has to stay and work. Bummer.

It snowed

Seriously, it's April. Hopefully this is the end of it already!

In other news, we have had lots of visitors lately. Two weeks ago friends of mine from Indy (Chelsea, Dan, and Atticus) came up and we went to a house warming party for another former Herronite. We had some good times! Unfortunately, they didn't get to hang out with the guys because we were off that weekend, but we showed them around the campus.

Then last weekend Tony (my bro) came up to hang out with the guys. They were all really looking forward to his arrival because he came up right after Christmas and they all loved him. So he played a little basketball and James Bond on the 64. Tony, if you're reading this, you should totally move here! (Don't tell Mom :) )

Now, we're gearing up for another weekend off (they came upon us very quickly) and this time we're taking an extra day to make it a 4 day. Pumped. We're heading down to Evansville to see everybody and Ton's playing for Easter (he plays the trumpet) so we're going to watch his performance. I also have tons of stuff to go through at my dad's because he's moving everything to Kyra's to sell his house. I already have too much stuff up here! Mom sent ALL of grandma's yarn up with Tony. That is a lot of yarn!

Hope everyone is doing well. We're off today which means that I have to give up the computer for Josh to do his homework. Only 6 more months until he is done...

Bugs, Kittens, etc

It's been a while since I updated, but I have lots of pictures to make up for my absence!

I have complained to some people about the serious infestation of bugs we have in our apartment. Dead flies, ladybugs, and now a new type of bug (I think it's a cadydid?) have appeared on a regular basis. I got a picture of a particularly elusive giant bug (it hid from me for about 5 minutes).

While Josh's parents were in Florida, we babysat their cat. Apparently, Tobias (the female cat) loves water. I witnessed this as I was getting ready to take a bath and kitty was very intrigued. See...

Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of when kitty fell in, hilarious.

Long Weekend

We had a very eventful weekend! We went back to my hometown of Evansville to hang out with family. Spent a lot of time with grandpa and going through some things. I came back with 20 pounds of fabric (yes, I weighed it!) and some yarn. After finishing the last afghan, I have around 3 more to finish for other family members. Lots of projects on the horizon.

Heard lots of about wedding plans, so exciting. I have a love of all things weddings. We're trying to convince dad and kyra to get married somewhere tropical. I think that's what they really want to do. Mom and I watched Mamma Mia, which was really good. I was definitely pleasantly surprised. And, I kinda love Abba. Sunday we met some friends at Qdoba...delicious. It was really nice to get to see everybody! Thanks for getting together :) Then we went looking at houses with Josh's parents and Em. Saw some pretty cute ones, so we'll see if they end up putting in a bid.

Other than that, we're in our stretch of lots of time off (5 out of 7 days) so we're trying to enjoy that while we can. I love this stretch. We also took our guys who made honor roll out to lunch today. Definitely got our money's worth at the Asian Buffet! Those boys can eat.

Finally--it's getting warm again! I want to put away my winter coat.

In other news, we broke down and bought a new mattress. Josh wanted me to blog about this because it makes us feel super old. I cannot explain how excited we are about this. And I have never slept better. Could we be any more pathetic that this is breaking news in our household?

The winter that never ends

So, having lived in Indiana for almost 25 years, I have come to understand that weather here is crazy. However, I really hoped the snow was gone for good. I took a picture on Friday thinking I could take a picture once a week and watch the seasons change.

Josh's B-day and Trip

So, I have been terrible about updating lately. Sorry if you've been checking and I haven't been updating. Tsk tsk to me. By the way, the pictures above are of the afghan I finished that grandma had started for one of my relatives. He's being deployed to Iraq, or maybe already has, hence hte camo.

Anyway, this last weekend we took a day trip to Mishawaka, which is right by Notre Dame. So, we stayed at the Beiger Mansion (which was a giant place, incredibly decorated, and had awesome food!) and then toured the South Bend Chocolate Factory and Notre Dame.

Notre Dame was really cool...we saw Touchdown Jesus (why did I think this was a statue?)

This is me at the chocolate factory. It was a pretty corny tour, but worth it because they give you a piece of free chocolate! We also got to wear hair nets. Nice.

In other news, we finally sold the house for good, check is in the bank. Yessss. We're settling into the new place, almost everything is unpacked. I'll take pictures of our new digs here soon. I need to clean first!

Also, (jeez this post is long) Josh and I had an exciting morning today. Two of our guys decided to run. Well, they didn't get too far before we realized they were missing (about 5 minutes) so with help from the police, White's was able to track them down. The sad thing is that one of them has been here for a while, so he is likely to be terminated. I know we will see lots of guys leave while we are here, but it's hard to see one go!
